Just this week the Government of Canada released its updated food guide for 2019. Previously, Canada’s food guide included four different categories to include in a diet, which included: grains, dairy, meats and alternatives, and vegetables and fruit. For 2019, they have revised the food guide to show a plate with different food groups sectioned on a plate which is pictured above. The revised food guide indicates half of your plate should be of vegetables and fruits, quarter of your plate should be protein, and the remaining quarter to be whole grain foods. For your drink, it should be water. Before this revised food guide came up, were you already incorporating this in your daily meals? If you haven’t yet, what are you planning to adjust to get your plates to look like this?
